Follow-up checks

Follow-up check

During each check-up, there is enough room to discuss how you are doing and to answer the questions you may have. Each check, we examine your belly, listen to the baby's heartbeat and measure your blood pressure. Apart from these standard tests, we again thoroughly check your blood values at 27 weeks pregnancy to monitor iron levels (Hb).

Whooping cough vaccination
Whooping cough is a highly contagious disease caused by a bacterium. These bacteria cause serious coughs that can last for months. Symptoms in babies include shortness of breath and a severe hacking cough. If left unprotected during their first 2 months, symptoms can aggravate and potentially be fatal.
This can be avoided through the whooping cough vaccination. From 22 weeks of pregnancy, it is possible to receive this vaccination free of charge via the GGD. Herewith, you protect yourself and your baby as he/she will immediately receive the right antibodies that will reduce the amount of injections required upon birth. More info needed? Download this folder

Vaccination is not mandatory, and is therefore entirely your decision.

Rhesus negative
For women who have a Rhesus D negative rhesus factor, an additional blood test is needed to investigate what the baby's rhesus factor is. If the baby Rhesus D is positive, we will give an Anti-D injection around the 30th week of pregnancy and after the birth. For women who have a Rhesus c negative blood factor, only extra blood tests are needed. We will investigate whether there are antibodies in your blood.

Birthplan
From 30-34 weeks we will start with your wishes regarding the birth and give it more shape with the help of a birthplan. Of course this may also be discussed earlier if you would like.

How often you come to our office hours is described below:
